A robust stator inter-turn fault detection in induction motor utilizing Kalman filter-based algorithm

Today, due to the widespread utilization of Induction Motors (IMs) in different industries, their condition monitoring is great importance. Concentrating on failures IMs, it has been acknowledged that stator inter-turn faults (SITFs) are most frequent electrical failures. This paper puts forward an algorithm for SITF detection founded Kalman Filter (KF). More specifically, proposed employs KF extract motor current signatures (MCS) and voltage (MVS). Afterward, a statistical index used, based standard deviation extracted signatures. The technically robust against non-fault conditions including quality problems heavy load changes as well significant performance presence high measured noise-impregnated signals algorithm-based. Moreover, during source harmonic pollutions, very performance. Also, straightforward low-computational mathematical basis, method computationally efficient. validated with numerous simulation experimental scenarios. results indicate performance, promising accuracy good speed convergence.
